In (early) celebration of Cinco de Mayo, James Beard award-winning cookbook author, television personality, cooking teacher extraordinaire, restaurateur and Executive Chef of Copita Tequileria y Comida in Sausalito, California, visited Omnivore Books in Noe Valley to share some amazing tequila inspired drinks and snacks from her book, Tequila. The drinks were out of this world and the snacks, fresh and tasty mexican classics designed to pair perfectly with tequila based drinks. Joanne is the author of 17 cookbooks and is by far one of my favorite cooking personalities. I am so stoked that I got to meet her and spend some time getting to know her and her manager, Brian Basmajian (by the by, they are both east coast transplants here as well). Joanne is just as vibrant and fun as her TV personality and an incredibly warm and friendly person. Her restaurant is at the top of our places to visit in the bay area. Not only is it fresh seasonal cuisine but the entire restaurant is gluten-free! Some of Joanne's cooking lessons are available on DVD and can be purchased on her website http://www.joanneweir.com, as well as her cookbooks. You can also learn much more about Joanne and her culinary adventures and cooking lessons. Thanks Joanne and Brian (and Omnivore for hosting) for a great evening, a memorable Margarita and delicious snacks. We can't wait to come visit Copita!
